Bo Cumming Løkkegaard — a biologist with specialties in marine biology, biochemistry and geology. Bo has been teaching and communicating science for the past 20 years. In the 1990s he was the Danish Institute for Study Abroad (DIS)'s first Director of Science programs, building their semester and summer programs and study tours in Denmark and Iceland.
Iceland holds a special place in Bo's heart, as he has been visiting there regularly since childhood, and as an adult, teaching geology and biology courses alongside faculty from the University of Iceland and out in the island nation's incredible nature.
For the past 15 years, Bo has been involved in a number of national and international science education projects, documentary films, expeditions, field courses, and curriculum development. Bo's passion is teaching — bringing nature, science and the wonders of Scandinavia to students of all ages.
Bo also consults on science communications projects, curriculum development, content for film and TV documentaries. He has recently consulted for CIEE Copenhagen, the organizers of the 2017 European Science Journalist Conference in Copenhagen, and is working on programs for the University of Minnesota's College of Engineering and Sciences and Learning Abroad Center, as well as Maryville College in Tennessee.
